A Day in Halifax

This weekend we had what has become an annual tradition. Barb has her annual English teachers' conference in Halifax in late October every year. I usually take the day off work and "do the city" with Lauren and Rachel. This normally involves (as it did this year) a stop at Starbucks for some rediculously priced hot chocolate and cookies - a morning at Chapters bookstore where each girl can pick out a book - and a stop at "Blessings Christian Marketplace" - where we usually get a CD that we drive around to the rest of the day. This year's choice was a Chris Tomlin live CD - which I've quite enjoyed so far:

At lunch we had arranged to meet Marcio Garcia - a missionary with EMAF in Brazil who happened to be in Canada. I've been on a few construction projects with Marcio and it was great to see him. I got an update on what's happening in some of the islands and fishing villages I've been to. Depending on how good your Portuguese is, you can read EMAF's web-site here:

There's a little bio of Marcio here:

The payback for a fun day on Friday was a day of shopping on Saturday - oh well...
