My last full day here in Atlanta...

Could you get any better hosts than Alan & Liz? I doubt it. I've had such fun.. so many memories.

Using Alan's GPS I drove around a little today - and ended up at the High Museum. The sculptures there are especially impressive.

In the evening the three of us went to see the Thrashers play the Sabres. It was an exciting game - and went to a shoot-out. Sadly (since I guess I should cheer for the home team), the Sabres prevailed. Great seats too!

Tomorrow.. there's an early flight back home. But... I'll certainly feel like I've left a piece of me here. As the song says, "Georgia on my mind".

Monday Stuff

A busy day today.

I was up early, so I went for a run around the neighborhood. This time I took a couple pictures - it's a very pretty area. It was also quite cold that early in the morning.. my hands were numb when I got back.

Then I went to Stone Mountain - to pick up some materials for the Youth Group - hope it all fits in my luggage!! Stone Mountain itself is huge - and really "neat".

I did some shopping this afternoon - and had some good success - I hope everyone is happy!

Tonight Alan and I went to see the Hawks play the Lakers. For the first half - both teams were ice cold. The most exciting part of the first half was "celeb spotting" - lots of interesting people - including... Dominique Wilkens, Martin Lawrence, Tim Alan, Lil' Bow Wow... etc. Pictures below.

The Lakers won - it was close till the end - the Kobe decided to "step it up" - and it was game over.

We'll see if the Thrasers have better luck tomorrow!

A Busy Sunday

Wrapping up a busy day by watching the Superbowl - pretty exciting so far (it's halftime).

We went to church at Northpoint this morning. A good message on being "salt in the world" - and as expected, great music. Here's a clip from the morning you can view at youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Kx6D0Npw2o

On the drive home from church we went to Caribou Coffee - and I had a Chai Tea Late - which was great.

We packed a quick lunch and then drove to the North Georgia Factory Outlets - managed to pick up a few deals!

Once we got back.... we decided to be healthy, and we all went to "Life Fitness" - I did some elliptical and a bunch of strength training - I'm sore!

Here's a bunch of pictures from the day.

Back in Atlanta

So..... here I am back in the sunny (but not all the much warmer) south. Can you believe Alan & Liz are actually nice enough to have me back for a second trip?

I set out for Halifax this morning in a snowstorm - a picture of the snowplows on the runway is below (Along with a shot of 2 really cute girls!).

The flight to Newark was interesting - we circled Long Island for about 30 min before they let us land. We did a loop around the Statue of Liberty & the Empire State Building 4 or 5 times. It was an interesting tour, but unfortunately it meant we landed too late for my bags to make the connection. When I got to Atlanta I was told my bags were still in New Jersey. As we speak (11:02 local time), they are apparently being loaded on to a van to be driven out to me in Alpharetta.

In the mean time, we went out to dinner at "Atlantic Seafood" - had some excellent shrimp and scallops. To round the evening off, Liz had baked some cookies to go with the "Cold Stone Creamery Peanut Butter Cup Perfection" ice cream. Yes... heavy duty calories... but as Liz so aptly put it, "they were splurge-worthy calories."
