In San Antonio

Well... here we are in San Antonio. We had an extended shopping tour of San Marcos today (half-way between Austin & San Antonio). There are 2 large factory outlet malls there - so it was hard to pull everyone away.
Tonight we went to a San Antonio Missions AA Texas-League game. They beat the Frisco Rough-Riders 5-4. It's always fun when the home team wins!
A really neat thing happened at the game. In the top of the 3rd, Frisco had a bit of a rally going. Their clean-up man, Jim Fasano (#43) was at bat. He hit a foul ball off the end of the bat - and broke a piece off the end. As he was coming back to the dugout (our seats were in the first row on the 1st base line), I said "Hey Jim - how about the bat?". Well... he didn't say anything. But he got his new bat - and proceeded to hit a double off the right field wall - another 3 feet and he would have had a 2-run homer. The next batter flied out to center and the inning was over. As Jim was coming back to the dugout I said "you know Jim, if you'd given me the broken one, I think that ball would have gone out." Well... he kinda smirked... went in the dugout... and came out with the broken bat and gave it to me. The girls were quite thrilled. Just how I'm going to get this baseball bat on the plane? I haven't figured that part out yet!
A few other interesting things. There's an Airforce base about a quarter-mile over the centerfield fence. Some interesting aircraft were taking off and landing throughout the entre game. I also thought San Antonio's mascot, "Henry the Puffy Taco" was pretty interesting.

And....here's a few pics of the day.

Actually - Jim went 3 for 3 - so if he bats like that, you might see him playing for Texas soon (Frisco is a farm-team of the Rangers).
